Dr. Lawson Batten
Dr. Lawson Batten was born and raised in Smithfield, NC. Growing up in Johnston County, he attended North Johnston High School and played several sports including basketball, baseball and soccer. He always enjoyed going to the dentist as it gave him an opportunity to see family. His uncle was his dentist and his grandmother worked at the front desk of his childhood dental office. Seeing these familiar faces and having these great experiences at the dentist are what first captured his interest in the profession. Now as a dentist, Dr. Batten is looking to replicate that family-like atmosphere at Wilson Family Dental.
After graduating from high school he was excited to continue his education at NC State where he received his bachelor’s degree in human biology with a minor in psychology. He then went on to dental school at East Carolina University and decided to stay and continue practicing in eastern North Carolina where he grew up.
His love for dentistry, but more importantly his love for taking care of his patients, shines through in his philosophy for caring for his patients. Dr. Batten’s philosophy is to treat all of his patients just like he would want to be treated at the dentist. He enjoys getting to know his patients so he can care for them the best way he can. He is very passionate about furthering his dental education and continues to pursue higher training in implants, root canals, and family dentistry to provide the best treatment for his patients and improve their smiles.
He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the North Carolina Dental Society. Dr. Batten is an avid sports fan but mostly enjoys soccer, football, and anything NC State. When he is not in the office he has a love for traveling, reading, and hiking. Dr. Batten is excited to meet you and learn how he can help!
